Tik Tok is an emerging video sharing social networking service that lets users create short dance, lip-sync, comedy and talent videos, where users can choose from a wide range of music genres as background music and apply a filter to create a 15 seconds video. It is estimated that over 500 million people use Tik Tok and this is more than the number of Twitter users.
Though it has an impressive amount of users its age demographic is mainly focused between 16 and 24 years old, thus if the organisation has a focus on younger generations this platform should be one of their must go tos to generate more impressions.
There are two main forms of marketing that can be applied to this platform, the first one is influencer marketing from crafting to dancing many people within this platform use their skills to create things. These influencers will be able to gain followers as time goes and audiences are willing to purchase products based on the influencer’s suggestions to create the same result, brands should form partnerships so that influencers will use your products or services on camera and promote it to their viewers.
The second form is to create original videos that are based on viral contents, this can be very difficult for some organisations as it will consume a large amount of time, innovation and resources.
Non-for-profit organisation can find their way around this platform if their already existing subscriber base align with Tik Tok’s user groups and by uploading videos of upcoming events or what is going on this way people will feel more related towards the organisation.
