Brand Safety is an extremely important aspect for not for profit organisations as they do not want to be seen advertising on websites that may have a conflict of interest with their brand values.

There are 12 categories that should be avoided when displaying your advertising on websites.

1. Military Conflict

2. Obscenity

3. Illegal Drugs

4. Adult

5. Arms

6. Crime

7. Death / Injury

8. Online Piracy

9. Hate Speech

10. Terrorism

11. Spam / Harmful Site

12. Tobacco

For example, if your not for profit organisation is trying to reduce youth homelessness, the organisation would not want advertising displayed on a website which encourages the use of illegal drugs as this sort of behaviour is a conflict of interest and may result in increased youth homelessness.

Not for profit organisations should be carefully considering the type of website they want their advertisements displayed on so as to maximise traffic from their target market.
