Much like all of you, here at MarketAid. we are working from home in light of the current pandemic and are trying to think of strategies to separate our home and work lives. We have come up with a few helpful tips to help cope with the stress and added pressure of working from home.
1. ITS OKAY TO HAVE A BREAK
It is understandable that employees are not going to be as productive during this time due to interruptions such as children asking questions and the fact that you are living and working within the same areas. It is important to prioritise maintaining mental health during these circumstances.
2. SET ASIDE TIME TO EXERCISE AND/OR MEDITATE
The most important factor during this time is your health! Getting up and going for a walk releases endorphins which will help you to cope with stress and depression. Going outside to get fresh air and some exercise will help you to be able to concentrate when you return so you can continue your work.
3. DO NOT WORK IN YOUR BEDROOM
You should try to keep a separate work and living area so that you do not feel as though you are thinking about work when you are trying to get to sleep which can increase stress and anxiety causing frustration.
4. TRY TO HAVE SIMILAR FOOD BREAKS AS AT WORK AND STAY HYDRATED
If you are concerned about snacking and overeating during isolation try to stick to your usual routine and only eat at set times of the day. If you do find yourself getting hungry, try drinking a glass of water or having a piece of fruit.
5. KEEP IN CONTACT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY
We understand that you still have to meet deadlines but everyone is in this situation together so even if you feel you are doing okay, remember to check in on family and friends just in case they aren’t dealing with it as well as you. Communicating with others is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety.
