How to Benefit from Content Marketing

Content Marketing is focused on talking WITH people rather than AT them which is what traditional marketing does. A key aspect of content marketing is being valuable and relevant. This can be achieved by providing content that is informative, entertaining and creative. You must decide what your organisation’s goal and mission are. 

Social media is seen as a great form of digital content in order to raise brand awareness as you can also link this directly to sales. Podcasts are good for brand building as they allow for content integration however, reach may not be as wide due to the nature of this form of marketing. 

An important thing to remember is that the goals of the brand when combined with the desires of the user will result in return on investment. Brands can achieve this through storytelling as it creates a character that the consumer can relate too. 

Visual content has the greatest potential for virality as it is easily shareable and therefore allows for more engagement with the use of social media which allows for easy measures of success that can be tracked in the form of shares, likes, comments etc. There is a catch with viral marketing in that once it has gone viral you no longer have control over it and therefore cannot control consumers reactions whether they be positive or negative, which is something the individual organisation will need to weigh up. A tip for viral marketing is make them laugh!
