These two marketing strategies are key so companies can reach their objectives, but each one requires a different approach and has different outcomes. Many companies use both marketing strategies to create brand awareness and reach their audiences. Here are some of the main differences between online and offline marketing:

Online marketing

When talking about online marketing we refer to a form of advertising that uses the internet channels to deliver marketing messages to consumers, the internet is the vehicle for creating and delivering advertisements. In these channels, you can find websites, social media, email marketing, search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing or video blogging.

The advantages of using online marketing are that it is a much cheaper option, it can be measure using analytical tools, you can pick specific consumers that you want to reach with you messaging and you can have more exposure with it.

Offline marketing

Offline marketing or “ traditional marketing” refers to the channels that don’t use the internet for delivering a message, it uses offline channels to build awareness of a brand. There are many forms of offline strategies that use non- print media and print media. Some of these channels are television, radio, flyers, banners, newspapers, posters and more.  Using offline marketing is a good strategy for getting to people that can’t be reached using online channels.

So what approach is better for me? It really depends on the message you want to give, nature and the size of the business. The combination of online and offline marketing will ensure an effective way of increasing customers. Online marketing is becoming more and more popular but we don’t have to forget that offline marketing is still important and useful when trying to reach a specific target market.
